USES OF METAL MESH: protections for machinery

Protection systems, for all kinds of machinery and assembly lines, are among the most outstanding applications of electrowelded metal mesh. Automotive and food sectors are two of the most representative and they have very specific characteristics.

Meshes are used as the main element in protection systems for machinery lines that must be protected by regulation, as there are moving parts or sectors where workers can suffer accidents. This protection system is used to delimit different areas, allowing access only to qualified personnel, with specific skills in the most dangerous areas of the line.

Each installation may require a specific type of mesh in terms of measurements, thickness or number of rods, which is governed by regulations and the space where it is being placed.

Automotive sector is the main consumer, because its production lines are lengthy and they also need protections for the equipment, both from the sides and from the top. In this case, meshes with very small holes and different rod thicknesses are used within the same panel, in order to achieve a very rigid and robust protection.

In the food sector, for example, all parts of the production line that are in contact with food must be stainless, which means that meshes used for the protections must also have a stainless quality, guaranteeing that there is no contamination in the process.

As a matter of fact, the highest percentage of consumers of metal meshes for protection are companies that perform an integral assembly for final customers. The mesh is the main component for them, in which the necessary poles, frames, fixings and alarms will be added afterwards.
