VERTICAL GARDENS

The creation and design of vertical gardens is a growing sector. Today, this type of panels decorate many exterior and interior spaces.

It is an architectural product that provides aesthetic solutions, both on walls and ceilings, and breaks with the monotony of stone and brick, giving value to the architecture of cities.

Its implementation, which is increasingly frequent in crowded spaces, such as hotels, restaurants, public buildings, museums or company headquarters, clearly indicates that this architectural element has firmly become a decorative element.

It is a relatively new product and its acceptance by the market indicates that its journey will be long and in constant evolution.

Some benefits

Vertical gardens not only have an aesthetic sense, but are also small ecosystems in the city, or inside buildings, which purify the air we breathe. Plants improve the quality of the air inside buildings, since they eliminate volatile organic compounds and toxins that can be harmful to health.

They also act as a natural acoustic barrier. The surface populated with vegetables blocks sounds of different frequencies, and can reduce noise pollution by up to 10 decibels. This is a very beneficial functionality for cities.

Mesh structures offer great resistance combined with a wide variety of holes and different thicknesses of rod, which make them a basic element in garden construction.

The role of Metalmalla

Within this sector, the role of Metalmalla is that of manufacturing the skeletons on which the entire structure of the gardens is placed. Metal meshes are ideal for this type of system and contribute responsibly to the environment, combining energy efficiency and design.

These structures are usually tailored-made and depend on the type of garden and its dimensions. This allows architecture studios to plan the vertical garden in its entirety, including substrate bags and irrigation systems.

The structures of large exterior designs must be more reinforced than the interior structures. As there is no standardized metal structure for vertical gardens, each design requires custom features, some require the use of galvanized and others stainless or materials of different thicknesses.

And that is exactly one of Metalmalla’s strengths: the creation of tailored-made structures to the client’s needs.
